Racoon Visit
7/2/2010 1:04:10 AM

The other day I came into the house to get something, and when I turned around to go back outside, there was a racoon trying to follow me into the house.  What a surprise!  I got a few pictures.  I've been wanting a racoon picture, so I hope they turn out good.

Upcoming blog post - how to make sand castles
7/2/2010 12:58:37 AM

I've found some interesting videos on how to create sand art; some on which tools to use; one video even shows you how the water to sand ratio affects sand art.  Please leave a comment here if you want specific information on making sand castles, and I will try to include that info in the upcoming blog post.

More ideas for your sand art creations
7/2/2010 12:57:08 AM

Here are some additional ideas for those sand sculptors who create art in the sand.  Ian Meissner is kindly allowing me to provide links to his photos of sand castles taken at Harrison Hot Springs, BC in 2001.  These sand art creations are much more detailed than the previous set.  These sculptors really went for detail.  Click on the "Read More" link to see his photos.

My favourite sand art pieces are:  definitely the Elephant, and then the two buildings, they seem to be two different views of an airline, I think.  The details are amazing and the elephant really looks alive.  Enjoy...

Sand Castle art
7/2/2010 12:55:14 AM

Since the Davis Bay Sand Castle Competition is coming up in August, I thought I'd find some interesting sand castles.  Maybe it will give you some ideas for your sand castle.  I'll also be looking for some available instructions for those like me who have never made a sand castle.

To start us off, Sarah from the Richmond District of San Fransisco website has graciously granted me permission to use some of their sand castle pictures.  So here they are:

Everything's Flowering in Sechelt
7/2/2010 12:42:39 AM

I've noticed the flowering shrubs & trees are busy.  The baby dogwood has tiny little blooms on it.  The dark raspberry colored rhodendrum is almost bursting open!  Then today I looked at the lilac because I really want to get some good pictures this year and behold it's almost in full bloom!

It's just the end of April and look at all the flowers we will enjoy next month.
Hope YOU have some flowers to enjoy too....
